The base piece is made of a single piece of faux leather, with the bottom stitched together but the side opened so the blade can be drawn easily. Blade is secured by two straps of material using stick-on velcro, an issue as well because it's too thick and doesn't hold very well on the surface of the material. The sling that wraps around the body is sewn to the top part of the base piece, while the bottom is velcro-ed on to allow some adjustment.
