NOM NOM NOM

*Warning! Image heavy!*

The NOMs arrived a few days back together with Barguest, but a recent spate of arrivals have prevented me from spending too much time with them. Here's a quick look!

The unboxing of NOM 4th.

Some flavour text about the NOM faction.

Comes with a poster too!

The NOM 4th design is a throwback to the original NOM, with its white t-shirt and orange sleeve. However, instead of a single tube from the mask like the de plumes, there are 4 tubes running out now.

Like the de plumes, there's fabric hair underneath that helmet!

It comes with one extra hand, a baton, two revolvers and no spare pegs.

The revolvers is longer than Barguest's and fits somewhat loosely into the 4th's hand as well. Fortunately, mine does not have any loose or limp wrist syndrome that other forumers have reported. However, I agree with the rest that since two revolvers are given, a left trigger hand should have been included too.

The baton goes fairly tight on the left hand, held on by the thumb, but it looks a little odd since the fingers are not wrapped around it but sort of opened up in a palm shape.

One of the highlights of this figure is the use of PU leather boots as well as real laces. Beyond increasing realism, it should also increase poseability since the boots are now softer than the harder PVC material in the older de plumes. I can't say for sure as I haven't really been playing with them.

One thing I like about this figure is the red paint on the gas mask's eye holes. This makes it more realistic and menacing than the hollow, unpainted Barguest's.

The unboxing of NOM 27.

Another poster!

NOM 27 is essentially a recolour of NOM 4th in black, with a different top. Otherwise, almost everything else is the same. If you noticed though, the pants for 27 is rolled up and tucked in army style, while 4th is pulled down. Not sure if this is intentional or just an oversight on the part of the person packing the figure.

That said, 27 still has quite a lot of its own unique flavour. Black eye holes, two loops at the back for the baton or other weapons, and a wired hood makes it quite a different beast from 4th.

The weapon loadout and fit is the same as 4th. Again, I'm lucky to get a stiff jointed figure. Another nice difference is the sleeve design for 27 - while maintaining an asymmetrical sleeve length like previous NOMs, it is now a one piece sleeve with a split cuff design.

The person who tied the laces on 27 did a better job.

Overall, while both figures do look awesome, I much prefer 27 for the black colourway and the subtle touches that gives it a more menacing presence compared to 4th's t-shirt. Apt too, considering 27 is a disciple of the original NOMs.

I'd be looking forward to a stealth grunt to create an all black squad. Maybe a Munich NTQ to round that off eh?

Here's a final shot of the three NOMs in a three-way stand-off.
